CARINYA BRITISH SHORTHAIRS
Carinya British is a dedicated British Shorthair breeding cattery focused on raising healthy, well-socialized kittens with beautiful temperaments.
We have been breeding cats for around 50 years so this journey is supported by lots of knowledge and experience.
We also run a small and successful boarding facility – Jovelles Cat Motel – at our home which is on 6 acres on the outskirts of Toowoomba.
All of our kittens are born and lovingly raised in our home, surrounded by daily handling, cuddles, and family life.
Before joining their forever homes, each kitten is desexed, microchipped, and vaccinated twice, and goes home with a complimentary Trupanion insurance plan for extra peace of mind.
Our breeding adults receive annual heart scans and are DNA tested clear for currently testable heritable diseases. We are also FeLV and FIV clear, prioritizing health, ethics, and lifelong support.
Ethical British Shorthair Breeding
Carefully bred kittens with a focus on sound health, classic British Shorthair type and beautiful temperament.
We register our cats and kittens through the Feline Control Council of Queensland [FCCQ] who are affiliated with the ACF. All kittens will come with their pedigree papers transferred into their new slave’s names.
Their microchip will also be transferred to their new slaves once the kitten is ready to move to their new home.
All kittens come with comprehensive and detailed information to help guide you through those first weeks with your new baby.
Kittens will also receive a special Royal Canin pack which will include a 2kg bag of Kitten Biscuits, delivered to your door.
Our kitten pack will also include some toys and especially one or two toys that have been identified as the kitten’s favourite toy from our home – so you can take something familiar with your baby.
Comprehensive Kitten Vet Preparation
Kittens leave desexed, microchipped, and vaccinated twice, ready to settle into their new homes.
As mentioned previously, all Carinya babies are born and raised in our home with lots of love and handling.
Kittens will not be ready to leave until after all vet work has been completed. This is usually at between 12 and 14 weeks of age.
It is expected that all of our babies will go to totally indoor homes, or homes with a secure outdoor area. We do not allow our babies to go to homes where kittens will be allowed to roam free.
All kittens being sold as pets will be desexed – we do not sell pet kittens entire so please do not ask. No, we do not accept “the children want to see babies born” or similar reasons to let our babies go without being desexed. It is also part of our Code of Ethics that all pet kittens will be desexed.
Very occasionally, we do allow an un-desexed kitten to go to a registered breeder but this is only to those we have a significant association with.
Health-Tested, Heart-Scanned Adults
Breeding adults are DNA tested and receive annual heart scans to support long-term health in our lines.
Our cats are also DNA tested for all known heritable diseases that we can currently test for.
Our cats are vet checked and vaccinated annually as well to ensure they are covered for the health issues they could come across.
